WATERLOO – Waterloo cops chased two men who fled on foot from an attempted traffic stop and had to taze one of them after he dropped a semi-automatic handgun.

On May 24, 2014 at approximately 9:42 PM, Officers with the Waterloo Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team attempted to initiate a traffic stop with a vehicle in the area of Broadway Street and Park Road reference an equipment violation.  The driver of the vehicle led officers on a short vehicle pursuit.  The vehicle abruptly stopped in the area of Harrison Street and Logan Avenue where both the driver and passenger fled on foot.  The driver was later identified as thirty-year-old Dennis Brown Jr. and the passenger was later identified as twenty-eight-year-old Antonio Rayshaun Evans, both of Waterloo.

As Brown was bailing out of the driver seat of the vehicle, he dropped a .40 caliber semi-auto handgun on the ground that was recovered by one of the pursuing Officers.  Other Officers pursued Brown and Evans on foot and they were both apprehended during the incident.  Brown resisted Officers and was tased so he could be controlled and taken into custody.

Brown was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, eluding and interference with official acts involving a firearm, all of which are Class D felonies.  Evans was charged with one Class D felony for aiding and abetting interference with official acts involving a firearm.  Both subjects were booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.

    1. ” fled on food” / “had to gaze one”

      What’s that matter?
You’ve never fled on food or been gazed by the cops?
