Schultz will return more than $200,000 to general fund

DES MOINES – Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz announced today that the Iowa Secretary of State’s office is expected to return more than $200,000 to the general fund in July of 2014. This announcement is part of Secretary Schultz’s ongoing effort to reduce costs and increase services.

“I’m pleased to announce these savings. Through finding efficiencies in technology, reducing staff, and consolidating management positions, our office has been able to do more with less and will return more than $200,000 at the end of this fiscal year.”

Since taking office, Schultz has worked to bring efficiencies to the Iowa Secretary of State’s office and cut red tape so Iowa businesses can continue to grow. Businesses are now able to file most of their forms online with the state of Iowa. Also under Schultz’s leadership, the Secretary of State’s website now offers a free searchable mechanic’s lien registry to protect residential homeowners, subcontractors and banks.
