IOWA CITY – The Iowa men’s basketball team punished another cupcake Sunday in Carver Hawkeye Arena, beating hapless Abilene Christian by 62 points, the fourth largest margin of victory in Iowa history.
Roy Devyn Marble lead Iowa with 27 points in the 103-41 victory, scoring 15 of Iowa’s first 17 points. The senior has reached double figures in three games this season. He moved up from No. 26 to No. 19 on the all-time scorers list with 1,194 points in his career.
“He’s been terrific,” Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said after the game. “He was really mixing up his game, both with threes and drives and pull-ups and post-ups, and that’s the reason we moved him back to the 2 spot is to get him all over the floor with the ball. I think that’s where he’s at his best.”
Abilene Chistian falls to 0-4, while Iowa improves to 4-0.
Four Hawkeyes scored in double figures, including Marble (27), Peter Jok (15), Gabe Olaseni (10), and Zach McCabe (10).
This marked the second straight game Iowa has scored over 100 points. The Hawkeyes have scored 82 points or more in each game this season.
Iowa faces Penn on November 22nd at home.
