MASON CITY – A local woman’s alleged lack of discretion in the Cultural Crescent landed her in jail late Wednesday night.

According to Mason City police, Angelica Tamara Despenas, 22, was seen urinating in public behind a business in the 200 block of North Federal.

The officers approached her and determined she was intoxicated. “While the officers were attempting to arrest her, she tried to swing at the officers and was yelling profanities so that other citizens could hear them,” Lieutenant Logan Wernet told NIT.

Despenas was arrested on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, interference with official acts, and urinating in public.

Records indicate that Despenas plead guilty to at least one of the charges and was released from jail.

  1. Jail what happened to giving her a desk appearance ticket and taking/sending her home. When you have a hammer everything looks like a nail.

  2. Matt,
You want serious support…offer this site full coverage for free!!! You have the people, but forget about the money!!

  3. @Jeff Roberts-Go up there after dark but be prepared to be very afraid. The only culture up there is the mayor and his buddy’s coming out of the bars.

  4. The “Cultural Crescent” is a string of taxpayer funded projects, used to keep a all but dead down town on life support.

  5. cThat is exactly what the cultural crecent is good for. Anonymous-the Cultural Crecent is the downtown area. They are trying to convince people it means something.

      1. Perhps a name change is in order to “crime cresent” because somebody is arrested there almost daily. You can give something a fancy name but in the end it is still just the ghetto.
