Today’s Monday, time for John Skipper’s weekly column. Today it centers on the Avenue of The Saints. That’s a good thing. The avenue is out there but up to now it represents little advantage to our community, other than the fact that it’s there.

John recalls past officials and their thoughts and ideas, all well meaning….but it takes hard cash to develop property. The rub in all of this was the key word, one of which was “committee.” Those of us living here who can walk and chew gum at the same time, have seen these committees picked by Bookmeyer before. They were loaded with self serving individuals who’ve out come was a foregone conclusion. If they could build it, sell it, or use it, they were for it. There are few surprises coming from selections picked by Bookmeyer. No one who can benefit from it should serve on it.

  1. Bare ground is bare ground, it just sits where it is. It takes people to turn it into money. You can speculate all you want to, but until some one with the financing steps up and puts the money down….it will remain bare ground.

  2. Peter. what is your take on this? What do you think might work? maybe you can get a meaningful discussion going to kick start this.It needs help so go ahead and throw out some ideas so people have something to rally around.
