WASHINGTON – President Obama spoke from the White House Press Briefing Room on Friday, July 19th about Trayvon Martin and the verdict of the court trial that followed the Florida teenager’s death.
He “could’ve been me 35 years ago,” Obama stated in his address.
“There are very few African-American men in this country who haven’t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me,” Obama said Friday.
George Zimmerman, of Sanford, Florida pleaded self-defense after shooting Trayvon Martin to death in 2012. It was reported that Zimmerman had followed Martin, confronted him and then became engaged in a struggle with the teen before firing the fatal shot.
A police dispatcher had told Zimmerman to remain in his car.

I think my murder and my mommy’s wounding made the news for maybe a day, and then disappeared.
A Grand Jury of my mommy’s peers from Brunswick, Georgia ruled the black teens who murdered me will not face the death penalty… too bad it was me who got the death sentence from my killers instead, because Mommy didn’t have the money they demanded.
See, my family made the mistake of being white in a 73% non-white neighborhood, but my murder wasn’t ruled a ‘hate crime’.
Oh, and President Obama didn’t take a single moment to acknowledge my murder. He couldn’t have any children who could possibly look like me – so why should he care?
I’m one of the youngest murder victims in our great Nation’s history, but the media didn’t care to cover the story of my being killed in cold blood.
There isn’t a white equivalent of Al Sharpton, because if there was he would be branded a ‘racist’. So no one’s rushing to Brunswick, Georgia to demonstrate and demand ‘justice’ for me. There’s no ‘White Panther’ party, either, to put a bounty on the lives of the two black teens who murdered me.

The grand jury said they wouldn’t get the death penalty because GEORGIA LAW DOESN’T PERMIT IT if the perps are under 18.
There is a LOT to this case that you don’t know, LVS, as usual. You’d rather believe some dumb ass email then look it up for yourself. But you’re desperately trying to PROVE that your racist comments about the Trayvon Martin case are justified – because “see? other bad guys!”
Although these cases are apples and oranges, and the actual details of the crime have NOTHING to do with this article, I’m not going to point out what a raging racist you are, because I don’t think you’re smart enough to understand just how ugly you are.

With all the other murders going on that are not being covered by the media, by Obama commenting on this one sounds like he is making a political statement.
The reason Obama commented on this case was because it was such a huge media deal. Should it have been a huge media deal? Hell no, no more so than lots of other awful crimes.
But he didn’t pick some obscure crime out of nowhere to comment on – he spoke about the one on everybody’s lips. Every politician and president in times gone by have commented on big media stories. Why is it that suddenly, when it’s Obama, it’s some shocking thing?
This is what irritates me so. It’s such hypocrisy to feign such shock and horror at things Obama says and does when Presidents and politicians have done the very same thing for as long as you and I can remember.

The doj pushed this trial not because of race, Maybe, but because of the “stand your ground” law. It highlights what can and will happen when a weak excuse like “in fear” can do. Florida created a monster, or rather, many monsters with this law. It gives people with the least reason license to kill. If Zimmerman had STAYED HOME like the cops told him to, this would never have happened. But he was 10 feet tall and bullet proof with that gun. THAT’S the reason for the focus.

I never said the doj pushed this trial for race reasons, I said they pushed this trial then the democrats started using the race card. Mr. President, the trial is over, Zimmerman was found not guilty by a jury of his peers. Don’t you have more important things to worry/speak about. I’ll really be surprised if your buddy, Eric, “the illegal gun runner”, Holder and you don’t bring federal charges against Zimmerman. You and the African American people won’t be happy until Zimmerman is in prison. But, that won’t change anything, because, African American men will still be followed in department stores, Caucasian people will still lock their car doors when African Americans walk by, etc. You should explain why Caucasian people act that way toward African American people. I’m sure that a man of your intelligence can figure it out and explain it to the nation.
