ALLISON, IOWA – A former teacher with the Aplington-Parkersburg School District was sentenced today in district court to prison for having sexual contact with students.
Ashley Anderson, 24 years, of Ackley, Iowa was charged with four counts of Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee (Class D Felony). After pleading guilty in April to three of the counts (the fourth count was dismissed), she was sentenced to 5 years in prison today at a sentencing hearing. She received five years on all three counts and the sentenced will run concurrently. Anderson also received a fine of $750.00. She also owes $2,200.00 in court costs and fees.
At the hearing, letters of recommendation on behalf of Anderson were received by the court.
Official court records show that Anderson admitted to engaging in sexual misconduct with four different student victims aged 16-18 during the 2011-2012 school year.
Anderson was employed with the Aplington-Parkersburg Community School District from 2010 to 2012. She taught high school math classes before resigning her position in the Fall of 2012.

I think it’s a whole different deal when it’s a female teacher and boy students than the other way around. I agree with sad, 4ever and fubar. These guys just scored big and poor, messed-up teacher lady not only loses her job but goes to jail. Not right.
As a teacher, this type of conduct is not allowed per her contract or the law. She knew it. She engaged in it. She deserves what she gets. Her choice.

But, aren’t we trying to treat this conduct equally whether the teacher is a male or female, when in reality the boys are far less likely to suffer any lasting consequences than girls?
If she was married things must of been pretty sour at home. Was her husband a teacher? I also agree with Allen those young men will have something to talk about in the bar from now on. This shit happens more than you think and it has been going on for many years. 30 years ago in Riceville.

My wife and I argue about this every time it comes up. I don’t see how a consensual relationship with an older women harms a young man. In this case she was a teacher…she was teaching
Iowa has gone overboard on what sexual crimes are. It was the witches, then the druggies, now it’s the sex crime thing. We are always over reacting to some irrational fear.
I’m sure this will probably ruin her life, as a teacher anyway. But the poor defenseless victims, well, they’re probably high five-in each other. If I was a girl, I would stay away from those four. I wonder who pressed the charges, what a shame.
I may be wrong but I believe one of the boys was bragging about it and the parents called the cops.

Actually, yes. I know of a male teacher who taught in that area who married a female student almost right after her HS graduation. The girl was the one who pursued him since Jr. High. Her parents knew about it and condoned it because they didn’t have much choice. He was a super nice guy and I’m sure he didn’t cross any legal lines. He changed schools so she could go on to school, but their marriage didn’t work out…… The age difference, maturity level, and difference in outside interests were just too much.
