Substance abuse investigation near tennis courts leads to 4 arrests

MASON CITY – Mason City police arrested four men late last week after an investigation into substance abuse near a park.

According to police, on June 7th, 2013, at approx 4:20 pm, officers were investigating a tip about subjects drinking and possibly using drugs behind the West Park tennis court area along the river. Officers walked the bike path and observed 4 subjects in the area that appeared to have consumed alcohol and possibly controlled substances. After a brief investigation, the 4 subjects were arrested.

Taken to jail were: David Leroy Gambell, 55 of Forest City; Jimmie Dale Rhodes, 54 of Mason City; Marc Stephen Ciska, 44 of Mason City; and Kevin Lynn Nitcher II, 29 of Mason City.

  1. @Jesus-when did Chuck die? I grew up with him but hadn’t seen him in years. Jimmie Rhodes has been in and out of the drunk tank for years. It’s to bad because he is not a bad guy when he is sober, which isn’t very often. Some day we will read that they found him dead in the ditch somewhere.

    1. From the contact that I have had with Jimmie, I doubt he could get into any respectable ditch in the area.
