10-year-old gets three-year sentence in murder conspiracy plot

COLVILLE, Wash., May 18 (UPI) — A 10-year-old in Colville, Wash., was sentenced to three years in a juvenile detention facility for conspiring to kill a school classmate, court records show.

Judge Allen Nielson of Stevens County, Wash., Superior Court sentenced the unidentified boy to three-to-five years for planning, with an 11-year-old friend, to kill a classmate at Fort Colville Elementary School, The (Spokane, Wash.) Spokesman-Review reported Thursday.

A teacher caught the pair bringing a knife and gun into class. They intended to kill the classmate because “she was really annoying,’ court records indicate.

“It never escaped my mind that these are children,” Stevens County prosecutor Tim Rasmussen said. “It is very troubling when children do things adults do.”
