KABUL, Afghanistan, April 27 (UPI) — The Taliban this weekend announced their summer offensive was officially under way in Afghanistan under the code name Khalid bin Walid.

Khaama Press said Saturday the insurgents issued a statement warning Western military commanders they could expect a wave of so-called insider attacks as well as strikes against airfields and diplomatic targets.

The Taliban also sent a message to Afghan security troops saying the best way for them to remain safe would be to refuse to serve the current U.S.-backed government. Civilians were urged to stay clear of foreign outposts.

Khalid bin Walid officially commences Sunday, which Khaama Press noted is the anniversary of the ouster of the former communist government.

@ maybe – You stated that no one would stand a chance against us. Why should they have to? Why are we in their country in the first place? Why are we fighting in any of these countries? Do you enjoy seeing our soldiers die and billions spent on other countries problems? You strike me as just another ex-military man who has Rambo fantasies which are the basis of his so-called manhood. It was the media with their cameras that showed those marines uninating on dead insurgents. Something for a real American to be proud of, right?

@maybe – Hmmm, I’ll bet that’s what the Russians
said when they went into Afghanistan.

First of all I was talking about Iraq not Afghanistan, I don’t know the policy there. Our military is more advanced than the Russians are now let alone in the 80’s so bringing the Russians into it is irrevelent.

@maybe – If you say so.

you are right, we can’t win because politicians won’t let us and people here are too squeamish when it comes to blood. If the media would shut off their cameras and the politicians would just shut up and stay out of it, NOBODY would stand a chance against us.

@maybe-You are right, and unfortunately it has been that way from a long time. From Korea, Bay of Pigs, Viet Nam, Iraq and now Afghanistan. The politicians have kept us from using our best weapons and have tied the hands of our soldiers and have not allowed them to win in an efficient manner. What do they care? Their sons and daughters are not there and they are not the ones getting killed or wounded. If you are going to fight you should fight. If not, don’t start the fight to begin with. What a dams shame. We have the best fighting force that ever was and we are not allowed to kick the hell out of those piss ant country’s.

when I was in iraq we were told that if we were attacked there was certian places that we could ot return fire, that is after we recieved permission to return fire.

There is no way the US is going to win against the Taliban. As soon as this country realizes it and ends its presence in Afghanistan, the better off we will all be.
