WASHINGTON – President Obama makes a statement from the briefing room about the explosions at today’s Boston Marathon. April 15, 2013.

The President explained that he had been briefed by his Homeland Security team, who are continuing to monitor the situation as it unfolds, and had “directed the full resources of the federal government to help state and local authorities protect our people, increase security around the United States as necessary, and investigate what happened.”

“The American people will say a prayer for Boston tonight,” he said. “And Michelle and I send our deepest thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims in the wake of this senseless loss.”

  1. Both MSNBC and CNN are saying that republicans are behind it. Never let a crisis go buy without exploiting it. At least you haven’t heard anything about gun control all day, wonder why?

  2. My heart goes out to all that are affected. I hope the responsible individual or individuals are caught soon.

I would like to remind the left that unfortunately now we have 2 incidents in the last couple of weeks that prove that persons hell bent on hurting and killing people do NOT NEED GUNS TO DO IT. It’s time to focus on the root cause of these violent acts and not blame guns all the time.

    Crickets? Hmm…..

  3. It seems to me that security wasn’t great for such a big event. Maybe I expect too much. I guess any of the runners could have had a bomb in his belongings sitting at the end of the race. I would have expected there to be bomb-sniffing dogs everywhere along the race, though, as well as vehicles.

  4. and remember him saying about the people killed as well as our Embasitor, “we don’t know who did this but there will be justice served.” Nothing but crickets since.

  5. The federal, state, and local government, (can not) protect us from situations like this. But they’re hell bent on taking personal protection away from me. Remember, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away…
