MCPD makes arrest in stolen property case

MASON CITY – On April 2nd, 2013 the Mason City Police Department executed eight search warrants on properties owned by Mark Richard Petersen, age 45 of Plymouth Iowa. Officers recovered several items that were identified as stolen. The recovered property is valued at approximately $58,000. An arrest warrant was obtained for Petersen, for 2nd Degree Possession of Stolen Property, a Class “D” Felony.

Petersen was later arrested on 4-3-13. The Mason City Police Department encourages anyone who has property that may belong to Petersen to contact theMason City Police Department or their local law enforcement agency. The investigation is ongoing. The Mason City Police Department was assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office,Worth County Sheriff’s Office,Manly Police Department, and the North Central Iowa Task Force.

A Class “D” Felony is punishable up to 5 years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
