Leaders from both parties in the Senate came together to reach an agreement that passed with overwhelming bipartisan support today (January 1st, 2013) that protects 98 percent of Americans and 97 percent of small business owners from a middle class tax hike. While neither Democrats nor Republicans got everything they wanted, this agreement is the right thing to do for our country and the House should pass it without delay.
This agreement will also grow the economy and shrink our deficits in a balanced way – by investing in our middle class, and by asking the wealthy to pay a little more.
What’s more, today’s agreement builds on previous efforts to reduce our deficits. Last year, I worked with Democrats and Republicans to cut spending by more than $1 trillion. Tonight’s agreement does even more by asking millionaires and billionaires to begin to pay their fair share for the first time in twenty years. As promised, that increase will be immediate, and it will be permanent.
There’s more work to do to reduce our deficits, and I’m willing to do it. But tonight’s agreement ensures that, going forward, we will continue to reduce the deficit through a combination of new spending cuts and new revenues from the wealthiest Americans. And as we address our ongoing fiscal challenges, I will continue to fight every day on behalf of the middle class and all those fighting to get into the middle class to forge an economy that grows from the middle out, not from the top down.
I heard a radio talk show the other day. A New York City cop called in and said later this month law enforcement agencies are going to retraining for Obama to declare martial law later this year.
A good way to crank up your credibility is to start your post with “I heard a radio talk show the other day” or “I saw this on television” or “I heard one of the upper classmen saying”.
you know better than saying that. dont you know they cant put anything on the internet that isnt true. I even heard this on tv.
I didn’t say it was true or that I believed it, I said I heard it.
I agree it sad that hard working Americans struggle to make ends meet and then we still have to pay for those that sit back, have babies get food stamps, low housing, heat assistance, and who knows what other goverment help. We the working Americans are the ones doing the suffering Obama is doing us no favors.

Your not fighting for the middle class you lying piece of crap. Who do you think is going to have to pay for the 17 trillion dollar debt you run up to buy votes from the non working sponges. Here’s an idea lets tax every dollar of money given to entitlement. Why should I have to pay non stop for deadbeats unwilling to work but have eanough ambition to vote for you so they don’t lose their free lunch.
why not simply tax everyone equal. no more million dollar tax free bonus. just how much tax money is the USA loosing out on because of the $250,000 limitations?
And how many lawyers, bankers, political robbers, get free farm welfare money because they bought farm land and then voted themself a way to milk the system. landlords should not get government farm welfare. it should only be for the actual farmer working his land. If your going to point fingers, point them at everyone involved.
