AMES – Yahoo Sports is reporting Monday that Iowa State’s top running back, Shontrelle Johnson, was “severely injured in practice.”
Yahoo reported that Coach Paul Rhoads said Johnson was in no-contact drills during practice when his knee was injured. A surgery is set for January.
“He planted, and you know how violently he plants,” Rhoads said. “Something gave.”
Iowa State plays Tulsa in the Liberty Bowl on December 31st.
