Person of Interest in Johnson County Shooting Arrested

Iowa City, IOWA — John Mulbah, age 20,  was arrested tonight, August 17, 2012 at his residence in Iowa City on a charge of Distribution of a Controlled Substance in violation of Iowa Code section 124.401 (1)(C) for events occurring on August 13, 2012.   Bond is set in the amount of $25,000.

Investigators had been searching for John Mulbah because he was believed to have been at or around the scene of a shooting during an undercover narcotics investigation on August 16, 2012 at Breckenridge Estates, 4494 Taft Avenue, Johnson County.  The shooting resulted in the death of Ivan Carl Hardeman, age 24.

Investigators are still attempting to locate Norman Dudley, age 20, who is believed to have been present at the time of the shooting.  Anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of this individual is asked to contact the Johnson County Joint Emergency Communications Center at 319-356-6800 or the Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers.  Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information that would assist investigators in locating Norman Dudley.  Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).  All calls are held in strict confidence and anonymity is guaranteed.  Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.

Charges are only allegations and not proof of a person’s guilt.  People charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa City Police Department, University of Iowa Department of Public Safety, University Heights Police Department, Coralville Police Department, Johnson County Attorney’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Johnson County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Johnson County Ambulance Service are involved in the ongoing investigation of the shooting at Breckenridge Estates.
