MacNider Photo Show Award Winners Announced

MASON CITY – Award winners were named in the 32nd Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show at the MacNider Art Museum on Thursday, May 17th. Thirty-nine entries by twenty-one artists were chosen for the exhibition by a panel of three judges. Judges for this year’s competition were Jack Vanden Heuvel of Mason City, 31st Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show Best in Show award winner; Alison Dannen, Art Teacher, Mason City Public Schools; Edith Blanchard, Director, Charles H. MacNider Art Museum.

The Best in Show award of $150 was presented to Harsha Jayawardena of Mason City for his digital photograph entitled Autumn Stream. Nick Andersen of Clear Lake received the second award of $100 for his digital photograph entitled The Groomsman. The third place award of $50 went to Bruce McKee of Mason City for his digital photograph entitled Lake Superior Sunrise.

Honorable Mentions were awarded to Harsha Jayawardena of Mason City for his digital photograph, Sunset in the Desert; Joyce Sorensen of Clear Lake for her color photograph, Clear Lake Sunset; Don Barnes of Clear Lake for his digital photograph entitled Grandma’s View; Joshua Brueggeman of Clear Lake for his Digital SLR photograph, Captivation.

The exhibition is on display through Saturday, July 14th, and is sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund. Admission to the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is free of charge.
