CRESTON, Iowa – NIACC softball lost two games to Southwestern on Saturday afternoon, 8-0 and 9-4.
Beth Mildenhall (Fr., Eldora, IA) had four hits in the doubleheader, and Kaylor Tiffany (Fr., Cornville, AZ) knocked in two RBI in the second game.
The Spartans (32-15, 11-9 in the ICCAC) scored four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to end the game in five innings. NIACC only had four hits in game one.
Six Spartan runs in the fourth sunk the Trojans in the second game. NIACC entered that half of the inning up 4-2, and got within four the rest of the way. Mildenhall, Hailey Eckstein (Fr., Larsen, WI), and Krista Grutz (Fr., Dubuque, IA) all had two hits, while Katie Gross (Fr., Crystal Lake, IA) hit a solo homerun.
NIACC (10-24, 0-20 in the ICCAC) will play No. 9 Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids tomorrow at 1 p.m.
