MASON CITY, Iowa – Kika Greenlee (Fr., Saint Louis Park, MN) scored 22 of her 30 points in the first half to vault NIACC to a 61-49 win over Iowa Lakes.
Jennifer Nelsen (So., Mason City, IA) scored 12 of her 15 points in the second half, and Jenna Morris (So, Radcliffe, IA) added 10 to aid the Trojan effort.
The Trojans (12-11, 4-5 in the ICCAC) cemented the game with a 22-5 run in the first ten minutes of the second half, with Morris scoring eight and Nelson scoring seven during that run. The Lakers, who led three times in the opening half, would never get closer than 11 the rest of the way.
In the first half, Greenlee shot 6-for-13, while the rest of the Trojans shot a combined 2-for-17. NIACC ended the first half on a 7-0 run, and took a 29-26 lead to the break after a three-pointer by Nelsen.
NIACC forced 23 turnovers, grabbed 15 offensive rebounds, and outshot the Lakers 63-49 during the game. Brittany Robinson (So., Shellsburg, IA) and Morris led NIACC in rebounding with eight each.
Noelle Kindred led Iowa Lake’s scoring with 12 points.
NIACC will travel to Creston to play Southwestern Community College on Wednesday. The Trojans already beat Southwestern 68-47 on January 7.
