DAVENPORT, IA – On January 13, 2012, Stanley Jerry Blanco, age 45, of Iowa City,
Iowa, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment for failing to register as a sex offender after
moving from Nebraska into Iowa, announced United States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt.

United States District Judge Judge John A. Jarvey also sentenced Blanco to five years supervised
release following imprisonment.

Blanco had previously been convicted of attempted sexual assault in Nebraska and was
required to register as a sex offender there and in any state to which he moved. Blanco last
registered on June 8, 2009. On April 27, 2011, officers located Blanco at his sister’s residence in
Iowa City. Blanco admitted that he had moved to Iowa in February 2011 and that he knowingly
failed to register as a sex offender.

The case was investigated by the United States Marshals Service and was prosecuted by
the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
