Around 5:30 pm Thursday night, a fire was reported to the Mason City Fire Department at 250th Street and Warbler Avenue (east of Mason City on old Highway 18). Nora Springs Fire Department was also called for assistance. A tank of water was called for as back-up.
The dispatcher informed the emergency units that the owner was contacted and on his way and that it was a controlled fire.
At the scene of the large blaze, a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Officer confirmed this, saying “Yes, it is a controlled fire.”
The Firefighters remained at the scene to watch over the fire.
