The Charles H. MacNider Art Museum is proud to feature its collection of twelve intaglio prints by artist Mauricio Lasansky in the new exhibition Light to Dark: Twelve Intaglio Prints by Mauricio Lasansky. Opening on Thursday, September 22 at 5 p.m. in the Museum’s Center Space Gallery, this exhibition will run through Saturday, December 10.
Born in Argentina, Mauricio Lasansky has lived and worked in Iowa City, IA for more than fifty years. Best known for large scale prints in which he uses multiple plates and full ranges of color, Lasansky combines a spectrum of graphic techniques including etching, drypoint, aquatint and engraving. Throughout his stylistic evolution, he has created eloquent figural statements that are colorful, fresh and spontaneous. Light to Dark features the artist’s spectrum from light, whimsical pieces to dark, contemplative works.
