City Council to meet Tuesday night

The Mason City City Council will be meeting Tuesday night at the Mason City Public Library in the Mason City Room at 7 p.m.

Mayor Eric Bookmeyer is recommending that the Council approve Jay Lala and Scott Moorman to the Mason City Economic Development Corporation. Moorman would be replacing John Michel, Lala would be replacing Larry Haugen.

City Administrator Brent Trout is recommending that the City place stop signs at South Monroe Avenue at the intersections of 26th and 27th Streets. The signs are, presumably, for safety measures for students attending Madison School. Approximate cost: $500.00.

Council will also be asked to approve final payment for the 19th Street SW water main extension project. The project had cost over-runs, including $5665.11 extra needed to repair the bike path section there. Soy Energy LLC was to cover “75% of the actual costs of the water main and the estimated costs to complete the path, prior to change orders” according to City Administrator Brent Trout. The final amount of the project, $138,458.22, was 18.6% higher than the original contract amount. It was not clear if Soy Energy would be asked to cover 75% of these additional cost over-runs.

More to come on this Council meeting, including video, as soon as it is available.|
