MASON CITY – A Mason City woman has been jailed after she pled guilty to her second run driving offense and was involved in a costly accident.
Mason City police were dispatched to a collision on Friday morning, November 3 at about 4:52 AM at 19th Street and South Federal Avenue. Erin Thompson, age 29 of Mason City, was driving her vehicle and it sustained $4,000 damage. Michael Hansen, Rockwell, was driving a truck owned by Contract Transport, Des Moines, and it sustained $2,000 damage. There were no injuries, police said.
Thompson was arrested for operating while under the influence and speeding.
Months later, Thompson pled guilty to second-offense operating while intoxicated. The speeding charge vanished and a charge of failure to stop in an assured clear distance was dismissed. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a year of probation. She must pay $2,641.25 and had her driver’s license revoked.
Thompson was caught drunk driving in Cerro Gordo county back in 2011.
