NIACC women roll past Dakota College-Bottineau

WAPHETON, N.D. – The No. 2 NIACC women’s basketball team improved to 12-1 with a 106-47 win over Dakota College-Bottineau Saturday in the NDSCS Circle of Nations Classic.

NIACC connected on a school-record 26 3-point goals in the 59-point victory. It is the third time this season that the Lady Trojans have made at least 20 3-point goals in a single game.

“We had a nice weekend,” NIACC coach Todd Ciochetto said. “We proved we can play different ways and different people can step up. We are deep and talented.”

Also this season, the Lady Trojans connected on 23 3-point goals against the Grand View Junior Varsity and 22 against Lake Region State College.

Shayley Vesel led the Lady Trojans with 21 points, including seven 3-point goals.
UU Long and Adria Stewart both scored 14 points and Taylor Laabs and Ci ci Kieger both scored 12 points. Laabs, Stewart and Kieger all had four 3-point goals.

NIACC led 58-18 at the half and led 94-36 after three quarters.

It was the eighth time this season that the Lady Trojans have scored at least 100 points in a game this season.

NIACC returns to action Dec. 28 at the Illinois Central holiday tournament. The Lady Trojans face Kalamazoo Valley CC in the first round of the eight-team tournament.
