MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – Now-former UFC champion Ronda Rousey was knocked senseless Saturday night by a boxing champion, Holly Holm.
No one has ever seen Rousey pushed around in the ring like she was by Holm in this fight, which set some records for viewership, UFC President Dana White said in post-fight interviews. Over 56,000 watched the fight in person.
Holm (10-0) delivered a left kick to the Rousey’s (12-1) neck about a minute into the second round that sent the champ to the canvas. Holm then pummeled Rousey with three vicious strikes to the face and head. Rousey was knocked unconscious and lay there for several minutes before she was taken to a hospital and kept overnight. White said in interviews that a plastic surgeon was being called in to work on Rousey.
Watch the knockout:
It was just a matter of time. No matter how tough you are, there’s always somebody tougher. Hope she managed her finances well, as I don’t think that she will be back. Good luck with your future.
Rousey didn’t take Holm seriously and it cost her the fight. The rematch should be interesting.
