Richard Alex Muhlstein, 76, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City. Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday May 21, 2024, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel

Richard Alex Muhlstein, 76, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday May 21, 2024, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401, with Reverend Daniel Hanson officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family of Richard Muhlstein.

Richard was born on May 16, 1947, in Mason City, IA to Walter and Lydia (Beisel) Muhlstein. He went on to graduate from Mason City High School in 1965, where he played football. He continued his education at Hamilton Business College earning his associate degree. Before Richard retired in 1982 he worked at a variety of well-known Mason City companies, including Libbey-Owens-Ford and Sears.

Richard was united in marriage to Trudy Lee on September 14, 1968, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, IA, from this union two children were born, Jason and Mark. His sons were his pride and joy. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling, raising and riding horses, along with driving his muscle cars.

He was known for always making those around him laugh with his stories and infectious laugh. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially when a good steak was involved! Those left to cherish Richard’s memory are his wife Trudy; sons Jason (Tami) Muhlstein and Mark (Laura) Muhlstein; grandchildren Joey, Olivia, Gavin, and Mia; sister Donna Meyer; brother-in-law Dennis (Jyl) Lee and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Lydia Muhlstein; sisters Darlene Muhlstein and Dixie (Charles) Harris; brothers Donald (Sharon) Muhlstein and Walter Jr. (Miriam) Muhlstein; and brother-in-law Ed Meyer.
