Charles City Community School District chooses Dr. Brian Burnight as new Superintendent

CHARLES CITY – The Charles City Community School District announced that a contract for Superintendent has been offered to Dr. Brian Burnight.

Dr. Burnight most recently served as Director of Elementary Education at Sioux City Community School District from 2012-2023. Prior to that he worked in the Byron Union School District in California as Elementary Principal from 2004-2012. Prior to that he worked in the San Ramon Unified School District in California as Middle School Assistant Principal from 2001-2004.

There were ten applicants for the position. The board interviewed three finalists for the position during the week of May 6, 2024. Brian Burnight will assume the duties of superintendent beginning July 1, 2024.

McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. served as consultants in the search process and will continue working with the Charles City Community School District Board of Directors and the new superintendent in helping establish performance objectives for Brian Burnight.
