MASON CITY – Joshua Masson is pleased to announce his candidacy for the Third Ward seat on the Mason City Council. Masson, 44, is employed at Curries, where he has been the Manufacturing Business Systems Analyst since 2002. Masson moved to Mason City from suburban Detroit.

“I am excited to run for city council,” said Masson. “I’m a big believer in giving back to my community, as evidenced by my past involvement in area organizations. I pledge to bring my intelligence, listening skills, and desire for fair play to the council.”

Masson graduated from the University of Rochester (New York) with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. Upon graduation he entered into the military where he served from 1993 to 2001. He served in the Army as a combat engineer and demolitions instructor. He was honorably discharged at the level of Specialist E4.

During his time in Mason City Masson was a member of the Mason City Jaycees, serving as President of the local chapter, state District Director, Regional Director, Vice President, and as President of the Iowa Jaycees in 2012. He achieved the highest honor at the local level and was named a Governor of the Iowa Jaycees.
Masson also served as a member of the Business Information committee of the Mason City Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the Relay For Life of Cerro Gordo County Committee.

Masson returned to school and earned his MBA from Upper Iowa University in 2013. He and his wife, AnaMaria, live in Mason City with their two cats.

Masson is interesting in visiting with Third Ward residents. Anyone wishing to contact him can do so at massonjj@gmail.com. He has scheduled a Meet & Greet on September 11 at Coffee Cat (111 S Delaware Ave) from 5pm to 7pm.

Masson joins Brett Schoneman as a candidate for the third ward.

This guys is a marble mouthed buffoon. You may like him cause of his credentials but the minute he opens his mouth you’ll be changing your tune.

Remember Councilman Jeff Marsters? He was elected to the city council and worked at Curries. As soon as he was off the city council, Curries fired him.

I would think twice before I got involved in city government and then find out Curries wanted some “free” tax dollars and you are forced to vote on that.

Wouldn’t he have to abstain from voting on something like that due to a conflict of interest? He seems like a qualified candidate. And I’m sure his property taxes are paid also.

Marsters had no marketable skills, left town unemployed. Was a hack to, this guy Masson I bet is smart, a vet. Currie’s ever closes he won’t have no problem getting a good job. Engineer. MBA. No kids. He is not no BS-ing, Blimpmeier suck-up out to push his reality company. Me and the wife will go see him, talk. Probably gonna vote for him to, he is automaticlly better then B.S.

Low blow saying Marsters had no marketable skills. That simply can not be true, Curries employed him for many many years. They were angry with him for not voting for all their interests. Marsters was not a yes man and it cost him his job!

Good comment and very true. Marsters was a good salesman for years and years for that company and just because he wouldn’t support some of the things they wanted he was let go. He was honorable and when he gave his word he kept it. By the way, he has a job and has had ever since he left Curries.

Sounds like a good guy ! That Schoneman is a lacky of our drunken arse mayor !

O.K. Now we have a real candidate and not a butt kisser of the mayors.

This man seems to have a very good background and appears to be a great candidate.

Agreed.
Seems like a decent guy, good credentials.
I will definitely go to meet him.

There is no way in hell I am going to vote for that weasel Schoneman.
Schoneman is a snake-oil salesman type guy, a real butt-kisser.
