Severe head trauma to 4-month-old baby leads to arrest of father

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IOWA – An Iowa man remains jailed after his infant daughter suffered severe head trauma.

On January 19, 2015, the Columbus Junction Police Department received information of injuries to a four month old child. The child was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital where she is being treated for severe head trauma and remains in critical condition.

The Iowa of Division of Criminal Investigation was asked to assist in the investigation. On January 20th, 2015, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Oscar Jimenez, the father of the child. During the evening hours of January 20th, Oscar Jimenez was arrested for one (1) count of Multiple Acts of Child Endangerment, under Iowa Code 726.6A. This is a class B felony and carries a maximum sentence of fifty (50) years.

This is a joint criminal investigation conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Columbus Junction Police Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Human Services, Louisa County Attorney’s Office and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office.
