Wanted Charles City man nabbed by cops at MC apartment

MASON CITY – A wanted Charles City man was caught by Mason City police Monday night as they investigated a suspicious situation at an apartment in the Cultural Crescent.

Police were called to 3 North Connecticut Avenue Monday night at about 9:21 PM after a caller reported a suspicious male was at the residence. Officers located the subject, 25-year-old William Dorail Davis, Jr., who was wanted on a Floyd county warrant for assault causing bodily injury in connection to an October 12 incident in Charles City. Police and Floyd deputies had taken an assault report early that morning at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. The assault charge was filed on Davis 4 days later.  Davis was taken to jail and held.

Davis has been involved in a number of incidents in Charles City where police were called in recent months. He is currently facing domestic assault and trespassing charges in connection with an incident on July 18. He is also facing a charge of criminal mischief after an incident on February 16. Both incidents took place at low-income apartments located at 2100 Clarkview Drive.

No trial date has been set for the above charges; his lawyers have asked for continuances. He was served a warrant by Floyd county law enforcement Tuesday and then released on his own recognizance.
