Cerro Gordo county settles with former MIS Director Tepner

cerro gordo_courthouse_closeupMASON CITY – Cerro Gordo County reached a settlement agreement with the former Director of MIS Department Scott Tepner on July 1, 2014.

Cerro Gordo County Personnel & Safety Director Tom Drzycimski said that Tepner will receive 13.9 months [correction] of paid salary, which “works out to $93K before federal and state taxes and withholdings.”

Tepner will also receive a $998.97 lump sum payment to compensate him for his accrued but unused vacation time.

Furthermore, the county will not protest any claim Tepner may make regarding unemployment benefits.

Tepner will not seek a job with the county again, the agreement stipulates, nor will he sue the county.

Tepner had been accused of several crimes – most all of which were dismissed in court – leading up to his dismissal from his job as MIS Director for Cerro Gordo County. Cerro Gordo Supervisors placed Tepner on unpaid administrative leave on July 1, 2013, as he worked through the legal entanglements.

Earlier in June, a state auditor found misappropriated money in an audit of Cerro Gordo MIS Department.

The state’s employment website shows that the county’s MIS Department is now hiring.

Why is it all the commets are from the people that are afraid to put their name with th commit.Jim I probably will not renew my sub.

And you are?

It-s too much money either way – public servant wages and benefits are ruining our economy – don’t think so? What are the bankrupt cities indebted to? RIGHT public service debt.

It is 13.9 MONTHS not weeks!

So this guy is making $347,913.67 a year? That’s OBSCENE. What kind of effin corruption is going on in this county? WTF?

I was thinking the same thing, 97K seems like a lot of money for 14 weeks. Am I reading this wrong or what?

Sorry 93k

Yeah, what the hell does an “MIS Director” do anyway? No one in the County of Cerro Gordo should be paid $347,000 a year. No friggin way. I don’t care what you do. No County job is worth that kind of money from the people.

@Philly- I must agree with you on this. This is the reason our taxes continue to go up and up. It is pur BULL S####.

Meant PURE of course. Damn, I need a new keyboard or else I need to learn to push harder.

IT used to be public service was a thankless low paid job that people did out of obligation and selfless service to the community. Now it’s a status symbol position that garners high wages and stature. We need to throw it back to typewriters, filing cabinets and $25,000 a year salaries to teach these assholes a lesson. The problem is we never installed a safety valve to check against politicians self aggrandizing themselves over the years with higher wages. We need to pull the plug!!
