MASON CITY – A teen was reported missing late Tuesday evening, and was soon located behind a rural Mason City business.
According to police, a 16-year-old teen, Austin Vanauken, left his home at about 9 PM after a family disagreement. He was reported as a missing person to the state’s missing person website.
Just a few hours later, at about 12:45 AM, police received a call about a suspicious subject behind Pure Pleasure, 10480 265th Street, between Mason City and Clear Lake. Cerro Gordo deputies responded, and located Austin hiding in the area. He was then reunited with his mother.
Austin left his residence at approx 9 pm on May 6 after a family disagreement. At approx 12:45 am this morning, a citizen reported a suspicious subject behind Pure Pleasure (Hwy 122 W). Deputies responded and located Austin hiding there. Austin was returned to his mom.
No charges of any kind were filed.
