…not sure what the connection is between the Cerro Gordo county Health department…and the Mason City Chamber of Commerce? And just what does an officer of “Marketing and Public Information” do? I am thinking that even if it might be staffed with members of the “cronie system”, it is still a “shell game” for the “Chamber”!

It’s hard to market $hit.

Steve Jobs himself couldn’t even market CG county. No one wants to live in a high tax police state. It’s a great place to live if you want to make low wages, go to church and sit home every night like a shut-in.

Lots of good people came from MC, but most of those people have moved on long ago.

I know for a fact that they have to pass an exam. Then there is a team of Health Department Employees that interview for the position. They also go through the applications they have on file and all in anyone that is qualified for a interview. Nothing could be fairer than the way it is done there.

The Chamber is a non profit and not required to post any open positions, it is not part of the city, {although here in Mason City, they seem like they are.)They don’t have to advertise to post a job, but it would be to their benefit if they did.

They used to post all jobs. But, that was before her Highness Robin A came aboard…

I also know that when she was hired, they actually had a candidate that would have been qualified for any size Chamber in the state, with 17 years experience. They told me they were looking for ” Image” over being qualified.

That has pissed me off ever since… And look what we got…

@MaryBeth-I agree on the chamber. That organization has done more harm to this city than any other organization. I do know that CG Heath Dept. operates primarily on grants that they apply for so they do not have to completely depend on the taxpayers.
