Right or wrong? Local man has blunt message for police

NIT – You may have see this man. He is not hiding; in fact he seems proud of a very blunt message he is sending to law enforcement:

Fuck Cops

You may say to yourself, “How can NIT publish this? That is offensive profanity!”

Stop right there.  NIT is known for calling it like it is.  This is not some sold-out dying newspaper like the Globe Gazette.  NIT hits hard and delivers blunt reality.  Deal with it.

Back to the subject at hand.  The words on the jacket are offensive to some, but this person feels so strongly about his message that he actually made a sign out of his jacket to wear in public, telling anyone and everyone who looks his way what he thinks.  You can see the message, your kids can see the message.  It is in the public eye and no one seems to be doing anything about it.

An NIT reader sent this photo in proving it. Just days ago, another reader posted in the Whiner’s Den that the man was seen in the same jacket walking west on 1st Street NW near Monroe Avenue. He was wearing dark sunglasses and a red bandana over the bottom half of his face.

When asked for comment, the man wearing the jacket declined.

What would possess a person to create this jacket and wear it into a grocery store or walk down the street wearing it?  Does the message on the jacket go too far?  In your opinion, does this man deserve punishment, attention or just need help?  Would you ask him to remove the jacket if you saw him in public?

This should not be allowed in public. I have stopped a young man who had the f word on his shirt and told him it was not appropriate to wear and expose young kids to. I told him to leave or he would be arrested. He left.

Go “F WORD” yourself with a rusty fence post. C U N T

Concretely disrespectful back the blue!

But you probably were ok with the “F*** Donald Trump” or the “F*** Joe Biden” signs around town.

There are no good cops

Who brought you this photo? Yep. With nonpayment and no gratitude.

Not when the entire group covers for the one.

boom

just wondering if all my posts are now moderated.

thanks for the info. I guess I never posted more than two before.

more reasons why the police need to be policed. this single officer has been a disgrace to the force for some time. numerous assault charges. Including assaulting his girlfriend, and assaulting a groom on his wedding. In the latter, the city of Des Moines has to pay $75000 out of court to hush up the incident and prevent more insults to the city. Yet the DM police stand behind this scum and support him. The police also refuse to release the information compiled in his investigation. If this were any other person, everything including the last time he had sex would be public knowledge.

Law enforcement has lost the respect of almost everyone.
They are no longer there to protect and serve the public, they are little more than revenue makers for state and local government.
Thus the enforcement of meaningless laws generated to raise government dollars

@ 50 miles south 9:03pm, But wait, didn’t you say, “Police are people too. some are good and some are bad”.

I am not sure what you were referring to. However if you want to quote me please include the whole quote. I have copied it for you.

I say “FUK em” too. That is only to those who think their shit dont stink or have a chip on their shoulders. Police are people too. some are good and some are bad.

People who are guilty are the only ones that should be offended. It should be like water off a ducks back for the innocent.

You have made a mistake Allen, or deliberately tried to change my words. I have copied the actual post from 9:03 below. Nowhere do I make the statement you quoted.

One hell of a good way to start getting respect from we tax paying citizens is to obey the law themselves. NOT cover for each other. And pull that cob out of their ass. They need to realize that they need to treat everyone equal. NO FAVORITISM for family members of the law. If anyone cant understand this, they are the cops themselves are are part of the problem.

Whats this. Last sentence….Maybe there’s two of you.

isnt it obvious the man does not want to show his face to prevent the cops from finding some trumped up charges on him. dont be stupid people. Its happened to me more than once. simply because I speak my mind in public. Like I have stated before. This is exactly why I like NIT and wish it had been around years ago. To tell BOTH sides of the story and not just the side city hall or police want you to think is true. I say “FUK em” too. That is only to those who think their shit dont stink or have a chip on their shoulders. Police are people too. some are good and some are bad.

He covers his face because there is a warrant out for him!

It’s too bad he wouldn’t give an interview. I have to admit, I’ve never seen this level of free speech in all my years and travels, and I’ve been to all 48 states, and 3 foreign countries. Personally, I have no problem with this at all. Free speech is free speech, and what’s construed as obscenity is a matter of personal choice. The word has been used since 1475 and is thought to derive from much older Latin (futuo) or Greek (phyo).

I’m curious as to why he says this about police…whether the origins stem from personal experience with police, or whether it’s a broader anti-authoritarian philosophy or opposition to certain laws or policies. All in all interesting. Maybe the man will call into NIT and follow up with comments.

I have a feeling the police are gonna funk him up if you know what I mean. LOL

Hey Phil,
Hate to rain on your parade, but there are 50 states in our great country. That said, I am very surprised this man hasn’t been arrested. If someone would verbally say what he has on his jacket to a police officer, they would be arrested. However, due to recent court rulings, they would be wrong. Free speech protects a citizen from arrest for saying that to a police officer or anyone else. In an appellate court rulings, police could actually be sued for falsely arrest. Maybe it is that ruling that keep the police from arresting this fellow.

One belongs to the Innuit people, and another to the Polynesians. CONTIGUOUS.

I agree you have the right to say it but don’t be a punk and call them when your in trouble then.

Hrmmm….so it you exercise your right of free speech, you are not entitled to some government services? Sounds more like Russia. Perhaps you’d be happier there.

THEN MAYBE THE COPS SHOULD SHUT THE FK UP WHEN USE THE COMEBACK OF “WHY DIDNT YOU CALL THE POLICE”

If he was actually man enough to stand behind his opinion, he would take his hood down, remove the sunglasses and the mask. Having free speech is good, but don’t hide your face, we all want to know who the brave guy is behind the mask. He reminds me of Al Qaeda, they have the balls to terrorize and kill from behind a mask, so nobody recognizes them. Man up, masked man.

Do you mean like how SWAT teams mask their faces?

Good point Sucks!

that puts Allen in his place.

Not exactly, a swat team is like the Lone Ranger, one of the good guys, which Al Qaeda is not, unless your one of them, or on the wrong side of the law. There’s not an organization or person in this country that’s perfect in every way, simply because of human error. Somebody has to enforce the laws of this country, and the one’s that do it, are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. It’s a thankless job, mostly because of all the scofflaws that roam the streets, and the people that think they can do a better job.

The other way they could get respect is to NOT enforce laws that contain no victim. Legislators SHOULD draft laws to make it easier for police to do this, but ultimately police are the enforcers, and they choose to enforce what they will.

Philo… the police have these lame laws in place to hold and harass citizens. ever hear the phrase “arrested on unrelated charges”. Or “guilty of not having a drug stamp”. I am a collector. Ever try to buy a drug stamp?

Since when is free speech in America wrong? It’s the speech you may not agree with that needs to be protected. We’ve got the new young “super cops” with attitudes, we’ve got Hepperly and Pals who openly lie about pot, we’ve got a chief that removes Matt from the library. We’ve got Frank Stearns…lol. Need more be said?

It doesn’t matter if it’s right or wrong. It’s allowed in America, or at least was. Now you’d like to change that?

@Matt-You should have waited for Trout to reach for his gun and then beat the piss out of him. Easy to do with a fat butt like that.

This must be a real morale booster at MCPD from what I’m told Lashbrook doesn’t backup any of his officers!! Probably why they have such a shitty reputation, and arrest some and turn the head for others.

It’s cool to be a party crasher…for awhile, but to really get anywhere you have to create your own political identity and culture, become a formidable force who can offer the sheep services, then run for political office. This is how they do it.
