A controversial Arab news network is now operating on American soil.
Al Jazeera America was launched on August 20th, 2013. The network has a news desk in New York City and has hundreds of employees.
The parent company, Al Jazeera, is based in the Middle Eastern country of Qatar. Some have accused Al Jazeera as being “un-American” after its coverage of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Al Jazeera has several news anchors that once worked for the other major news networks, including for MSNBC contributor David Shuster, who said “The organization’s fearless efforts to give a voice to the voiceless have always struck a chord in me.”
Former CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien has also joined the network.
The network operates on channel 358 for DirecTV customers.
After watching their content during the Iraq conflict, they are no better than the media outlets during the Cold War during the 1970’s. They are in a league with Russia Today as far as I am concerned, both anti-American in content.
At least in the Cold War era, you could tell the players within ten minutes of listening. Some tried to measure their disdain for the U.S. by having programming (propaganda) especially for North America, but in the end, it fooled no one.
I wonder if the folks on Russia Today got their lessons from Radio Moscow?
Not a chance. After reading this article – had no idea this channel was out there – I took a look and as I thought the channel is total crap. I’m calling my cable provider about this.

I for one have no intention of watching this Muslim News Channel. I get enough left wing crap from NBC, MSNBC, CNN and other left wing news sources. The only Network that tell the truth is FOX News.

Well, we have FCC regulations and I believe when you are given a license to use the air waves that you can not discriminate against advertisers. You can bet they will be advertizing Islam!

With the name “Al Jazerra” it will be a tough sale and the hiring of lefties from MSNBC & CNN (oh, the irony) will not help.

when I was in Iraq I saw a woman that was the most beautiful woman in the entire world, even so I will not watch al gores news propaganda channel.
This brings back memories of Korea and Viet Nam where the enemy would use loud speakers all night long to spout out propaganda to anyone who would listen. This will be one way to rile up the Muslim people in the US, this can’t be good.
