MASON CITY – A man who was drunk and fled an assault scene with a child in his vehicle and then crashed into a utility pole, snapping it off its base, is headed to prison for five years.
Aaron Michael Hermen, 25, of Mason City, was sentenced on July 1st to five years in prison for operating while under the influence, two years in prison for domestic assault, and two years in prison for child endangerment.
Megan Elizabeth Hermen, wife of Aaron Hermen, was arrested by Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputies on July 17th, 2013 at 2:30 AM near Federal Avenue and 10th Street SW in Mason City for third offense operating while intoxicated.
Blood alcohol testing conducted by the arresting officer at 4:17 AM on a female subject showed test results of 0.179 and 0.177, more than double the legal limit.
Hermen was held on $5,000.00 bond and later released. She faces a preliminary hearing on August 2nd, 2013.
