WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 (UPI) — The White House has posted a photo of President Barack Obama firing a gun, days after skeptics doubted his claim of skeet-shooting at Camp David, Md.

The photo shows the president, just after pulling the trigger, firing at clay targets in August, The Washington Post reported.

The president’s shooting abilities became an issue when he was asked in an interview with The New Republic if he had ever used a gun.

“Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” he responded.

Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., suggested on CNN this week the president was being deceptive.

“If he is a skeet shooter, why have we not heard of this? Why have we not seen photos?” she asked. “I think he should invite me to Camp David, and I’ll go skeet shooting with him. And I bet I’ll beat him.”

“One picture does not erase a lifetime of supporting every gun ban and every gun control scheme imaginable,” the National Rifle Association said Saturday in a statement issued to NBC News.

I don’t see a wedding ring on his finger. I read somewhere he wore that ring even before he married his wife. They claimed he was married to a guy from Pakistan.

He figure he needs practice for when his secret service agants turns on him.

There to busy chasing hookers around to turn on him.

Whenever I’m having a bad day I know I can come to NIT to read all the insightful comments by what I call, “The public’s 47th chromosome”, and feel better about myself. Thank you Matt and I thank the select few of your contributers who dedicate their days to making mine a little brighter.

anything to cover up a lie

His stance is that of a first time shooter. No it’s worse… Gun does not fit him well.. and speaking of guns…. That looks to be a pretty expensive copy. and with the gun being aimed sraight away and at a low trajectory… just what the hell is he shooting at? probably an elephant or two…if its trap or skeet all i have to say is… miss

the whole thing is a poorly rehearsed photo op.

It’s photoshopped. If you look at the overall picture the gun sorta of sits at an angle. Like rifle was overlaid into picture. Wrists sit at wrong angles to gun.
And with no face can’t be sure it’s Obama.
It’s bait. Fodder for Obama bashing.

Photoshopped like his birth certificate.

At least its not a picture of one black guy shooting another like is all over Chicago news this year.

I have never seen smoke blowing sideways out of the end a shotgun barrel.

It’s ported like a lot of sporting guns are.

Ported means when the gas escapes the hole on the top allows gas to escape that way to keep the muzzle rize to a minimum allowing the sights to come back on target easier and quicker.

This gun is a single shot, don’t talk to me about sights coming back on target. There are no “sights” on a shotgun. I am not trying to put anyone down here but you know nothing about shotguns.

Shotguns don’t blow smoke out of the end of a barrel like this. I have been hunting and shooting trap for over 40 years.

My mossberg didn’t have the front sights but every other shotgun had bead sights at the end of the barrel. Don’t try putting someone down and belittle them unless you are absolutly sure you are right and in this case you are wrong. Hand loaded shell sometimes do blow out smoke, I have seen it many times plus if you look very careful at the shotgun our lord is shooting it is an over and under, maybe even a Benneli.

@John: you can’t shoot doubles skeet with a single shot. A round of skeet is 25 shots and a good share of the stands are doubles. Also, consider that this picture may have been taken as a still from a video that showed the exact moment the smoke left the barrel and captures alot more smoke than a human eye would normally see.

I don’t believe Benelli makes an over and under.

When I was shooting trap one of my teammates used an over/under just like the one in the picture. I thought it was a benelli but after your statement I checked benelli’s home page and you are right, I couldn’t find one but still the shotgun obama is using is an over/under.

I used to shoot skeet years ago and I never shot level, shouldn’t he be aiming alittle higher?

Unless you have really crappy reaction time or tracking skills like I do. I am really good with a fixed target, but sporting clays are a big challenge for me. Most of my shots are level because it takes me that long to acquire te target.

I was pretty good if I say so myself, I would miss an average of 1 clay per session. My team had 5 people on it and we always scored very high. This was back in the 90’s in ventura.

Matter of fact after 3 years on the team in the middle of a session my shotgun broke and I ended up using my backup. My backup was a mossberg 500 with 18 3/4 inch barrel, front and rear pistol grips with top folding stock. Even though it was a shotgun and I was using it in a sport it would be banned according to the new bill.

If that is Obama I’m surprised he could lift a gun. I didn’t think he could lift anything heavier than a beer bottle or a basket ball. He has never worked a day in his life.

What does it really matter if he has ever fired a weapon in his life or not? I guess I don’t see the relevency here.

When has Obama ever said he was against gun ownership? This is pic of a guy who resembles Obama. We can’t see the face so it’s not proof it is. Until I see one of him face forward I’ll not believe it’s him.
Again…..when has Obama said he is against gun ownership? He HASN”T.

Obama doesn’t need to say he is against gun ownership. Everything he does says it loudly and clearly. The following is copied from Wikipedi:

As a state legislator in Illinois, Obama supported banning the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic firearms, increasing state restrictions on the purchase and possession of firearms and requiring manufacturers to provide child-safety locks with firearms.[50]

In 1996, during Obama’s run for the Illinois State Senate, he was surveyed by a Chicago nonprofit, Independent Voters of Illinois about criminal justice and other issues. Obama’s questionnaire showed that he supported a ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. Subsequently, Obama denied that his writing was on the document and said that he never favored a ban on the sale and possession of handguns.[51][52][53] In 1999, he urged prohibiting the operation of any gun store within five miles of a school or park, which according to gun-rights advocates would eliminate gun stores from most of the inhabited portion of the United States.[54] He sponsored a bill in 2000 limiting handgun purchases to one per month.

As state senator, he voted against a 2004 measure that allowed self-defense as an affirmative defense for those charged with violating local laws making it otherwise unlawful for such persons to possess firearms.[55] He also voted against allowing persons who had obtained domestic violence protective orders to carry handguns for their protection.[54]

From 1994 through 2002, Obama was a board member of the Joyce Foundation, which amongst other non-gun related activities provides funds for gun control organizations in the United States.[56][57]

While in the U.S. Senate, Obama has supported several gun control measures, including restricting the purchase of firearms at gun shows and the reauthorization of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban.[58] Obama voted against legislation protecting firearm manufacturers from certain liability suits, which gun-rights advocates say are designed to bankrupt the firearms industry.[59] Obama did vote in favor of the 2006 Vitter Amendment to prohibit the confiscation of lawful firearms during an emergency or major disaster, which passed 84–16.[60]

During a February 15, 2008, press conference, Obama stated, “I think there is an individual right to bear arms, but it’s subject to commonsense regulation.”[61] Obama has also stated his opposition to allowing citizens to carry concealed firearms[62] and supports a national law outlawing the practice,[63][64] saying on Chicago Public Radio in 2004 “I continue to support a ban on concealed carry laws”.[65]

Obama initially voiced support of Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban and said that it was constitutional.[66] Obama has also stated his opposition to allowing citizens to carry concealed firearms[62] and supports a national law outlawing the practice,[63][64] Following the Supreme Court decision that the ban was unconstitutional, he revised his position in support of the decision overturning the law, saying, “Today’s decision reinforces that if we act responsibly, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.”[67] He also said, in response to the ruling, “I have always believed that the Second Amendment protects the right of individuals to bear arms… The Supreme Court has now endorsed that view.”[68]

After being elected as President, Obama announced that he favors measures that respect Second Amendment rights, while at the same time keeping guns away from children and criminals. He further stated that he supports banning private transfers of firearms at gun shows (referred to as “closing the gun show loophole”), “making guns in this country childproof”, and permanently reinstating the expired Assault Weapons Ban.[69]

The Obama administration has changed the stance of the United States regarding the proposed United Nations treaty on trade in small arms from strong opposition to support for the treaty if it is passed by “consensus.” [70] According to recent deliberations regarding the treaty, signatory countries would be required to adopt “international standards for the import, export and transfer of conventional arms” in order “to prevent the diversion of conventional arms from the legal market into the illicit market.” [71] Despite popular claims to the contrary, the treaty would not restrict U.S. citizens’ Second Amendment rights for various reasons.[72] Most notably, a specific provision in the preamble acknowledges “the right of States to regulate internal transfers of arms and national ownership, including through national constitutional protections on private ownership, exclusively within their territory.” [73]

On January 16, 2013, one month after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, President Obama outlined a series of sweeping gun control proposals, urging Congress to reintroduce an expired ban on “military-style” assault weapons, such as those used in several recent mass shootings, impose limits on ammunition magazines to 10 rounds, introduce background checks on all gun sales, pass a ban on possession and sale of armor-piercing bullets, introduce harsher penalties for gun-traffickers, especially unlicensed dealers who buy arms for criminals and approving the appointment of the head of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and

wow…you can copy & paste bullsheet. impressive.

So Anon, you want the photographer to stand IN FRONT OF THE MAN WITH A LOADED GUN and take a picture while THE MAN WITH THE LOADED GUN FIRES AT HIM? Seriously?

No, we want you to do it, that would take care of another issue, LOL!

Yeah…sure. And what John said.

sheeeesh really bad try Anonymous. Lessons from LVS?

Left all the way eh?

something looks out of place

It’s all hype. Conservative smear tactic. If this is Obama he’s in pretty good shape. And his skin color is starting to fade…..

@Anon-what is your problem? The picture was released by the White House, not right wing conservatives.

From the way he is holding the gun I would be willing to bet he didn’t hit anything and it probably hurt like hell. Kind of like Old Bill not inhaling.

he didn’t say he was a good shot

And….what if he did/didn’t inhale? Then what? He’s a sinner? Good thing no Cons ever lie. Like about trading arms with the enemy for oil.

Ok clinton didn’t inhale and obama shoots all the time. I am seeing a patern here.

No vest with a pad or pockets for ammo?

If a picture is worth a 1000 words I just got lied to 1000 times. Remeber the key words- “shoots all the time”
