The president of the National Rifle Association defended his organization’s use of President Obama’s children in a web ad about armed guards at schools, insisting Thursday “it wasn’t about the president’s daughters.”
The video is aimed at anyone critical of the NRA and skeptical of the organization’s proposal of how to make schools safer, David Keene told TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie.

@yes, as a business owner I would be highly pst off if you came into my business with a concealed gun. Esp. if there was an event with a shooter and you tried to play hero. I hire people to guard my business and if one of my employees was killed by your bullet because you were playing hero you would pay dearly. I think if there isn’t protection for our kids in Americas schools then Obama should send his kids to a school without protection and see how safe they would be. Our kids have the right to feel safe and should be. Have good security for our kids would require be able to protect them and they should be able to carry a gun. Maybe Obama needs to cut back on the secret service people he has at the White House and use them in our schools.

The idea behind a CCW is to carry concieled, so people don’t know that you are carrying a gun. I carry every where I go. If there is a sign that says gun free zone I just make sure mine is hidden. I have recieved extensive training in the past so I am not just some nut that wants to feel important and carry a gun, I know what I am doing.

If the law designates are gun free zone (something I am against) or a private property is so designated (I support) you must remove your weapon from your person. IMO if you violate a gun free zone your CCW permit should be revoked; you’ve proven ou are not responsible enough to carry.

I think this need to brought up. The left is and Hollywood are promoting taking away the average persons right to protect themselves, while they have security with weapons around them and protecting their homes and at their kids schools.
Maybe the NRA should not have brought this up with Obama’s kids, but it needs to be brought up. Just week before his press conference on guns, Obama signed an order giving him lifetime secret service protection instead of just 10 years. So he wants to security but not for you and he wants you to pay for it.
And we should pay to protect our Presidents, past and present. They are the leaders of our country, and deserve our respect and protection from those who would harm them in order to make a statement of some sort.
We have protected every ex-President since this country was founded and we will continue to do so.

Sidwell Friends School, where the Obama children attend (along with David Gregory’s kids) has 5 “Special Police Officers” and 2 “on-call Special Police Officers” in addition to 4 other members on the campus security team.
Also while the Obama girls are on campus they get a Secret Service detail as well (which also protects, by proxy, every student on campus).

I think the NRA went a little too far with this one. The President’s children, regardless if they are President Obama’s, or President Bush’s, or President Kennedy’s, are in much more danger of being kidnapped than my kids or your kids. Because of what their father’s did or do now, they are targets. I would say the same thing if this were brought up when President Bush was in office, or if Mr. Romney was elected and he was President. Because of the risks they take as the leader of this country, their children deserve that extra protection. THis shouldn’t even be an argument.
