Obama casts vote in his hometown of Chicago

Chicago Tribune –

CHICAGO — President Barack Obama returned to Chicago’s South Side on Thursday and cast an early vote near his Kenwood home.

The Democratic president chatted with poll workers in a neighborhood community center afterward during a brief stop in his hometown to stress the importance of early voting.

Obama was greeted by well wishers at the Martin Luther King Community Center, pausing to shake hands and pose for pictures.

Marine One landed at Soldier Field at about 3:50 p.m. CDT, and the presidential motorcade departed from there to the Martin Luther King Community Center, where Obama was to cast his vote.

Air Force One arrived at O’Hare International Airport a little before 3:30 p.m. The president was greeted by Mayor Rahm Emanuel at the airport, then got into a helicopter to fly into the city to cast his early vote.

Obama was in Chicago just a few hours, making the hometown trip as part of his push to get as many people as possible to vote before Election Day. He’s the first sitting president to cast an in-person early ballot.

Democrats have been aggressively trying to gain an advantage over Republicans in states that allow early voting. When Obama announced that he would be voting early, he said on Twitter, “If your state has early voting, join me,” and directed followers to a link with more information about early voting.

Another 4 years of Obama and the whole country will be as bad as Chicago. That’s turned into gang infested dump.

Right. Even the Detroit newspaper had the sense to endorse Romney. And Detroit is worse off than Chicago. The Detroit’s newspaper’s analysis of the 2 candidates was one of the best I’ve read.

Obama is retiring to Hawaii. “They” are buying an expensive house that will be ready for them the end of January. He knows he’s going to lose.

How can it be that Obama “knows he’s going to lose”? I happen to know he’s going to win. You must have been referring to Romney and you accidentally typed in the wrong name.

Heck, he has to lose. We can’t afford 4 more years of spending money we first had to borrow. If you just don’t get it, then maybe you better start reading up. You can’t do more of the same and expect a different result.

I agree beings he there let them keep him save us Americans the expense of moving him in January

What did it cost the taxpayers for him to land in Chicago just to vote early? Why are the democrats pushing so hard for early voting. It used to be only those who had a disability or were in the military could do this. Are they afraid someone might changer their mind if more information becomes available. We even had a lady show up at our house wanting us to vote earl. I told her I hadn’t made up my mind yet. She was from Chicago.

LVS, Obama has been campaigning close to four years now and you still haven’t made up your mind? Obama has had four years now to get it right. Time for the challenger, it’s his turn now. He tried, he failed. next!!

@JRB-I have certainly made up my mind on the Presidential vote but I am still a little undecided on some of the local stuff. If I had to vote tomorrow I know who I would vote for, but, something may come up that would change my mind. Not on Obama, I personaly think he is ruining our country. He swore to defend the constitution and then violates it. I was raised that you must work for what you get and his idea is the govermnent must furnish everything. Nothing is free. There is a price for everything you do.

While he’s there, I hope his team is reading his house for his soon occupancy. Chicago is a good place for him, come January 2013.
