MASON CITY –Judge Colleen Weiland granted an acquittal today in an arson case.
Richard Dean Thompson, 31, of Mason City, faced a charge of second degree arson, a class C felony. The charges were dismissed by Weiland.
Thompson’s arrest stemmed from a fire on March 7th of this year at 1412 North Jefferson Ave, where Mason City police and fire personnel responded at 11:12 PM that evening. The fire was determined to have been set intentionally.
No word on if there are other suspects in that incident.

I live not to far from the house that was burned. It took months and months to clean the house. They actually had to gut it and start over because of the smell. They hauled trailer after trailer load of trash from the basement where the fire was. Unbelievable. The girls and idiots that lived there for a few months NEVER once put out garbage for pickup. They just threw it in the basement where rumor had it the meth was being made. I don’t know if this guy set the fire or not but they were all guilty. Shame on this Judge for putting him back on the street. No wonder the police get frustrated.

Can you request an interview from JUDGE COLLEEN WEILAND and ask her about her record of letting criminals go scott-free?

At least JUDGE WEILAND is consistent in letting the criminals go FREE!!! And, of course, they are male!!
