Alliant Energy ranked second in Midwest for electric customer satisfaction

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa, ALBERT LEA, Minn. and MADISON, Wis. – July 13, 2012 – Alliant Energy received its highest ranking to date in the J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM, taking second place out of 16 peer electric companies in the Midwest large utility segment. Alliant Energy jumped up three spots from last year. In 2011, Alliant Energy was ranked fifth out of 16.

“Our mission is to provide exceptional service and this ranking shows that customers appreciate our focus on them.” said Gregg Lawry, Alliant Energy Vice President – Customer Service. “This represents great efforts from all areas of our company – all of our employees working together to provide reliable power from a balanced generation fleet at a competitive cost.”

The study measures customer satisfaction with electric utility companies by examining six factors: power quality and reliability, price, billing and payment, corporate citizenship, communications, and customer service. It ranks large and mid-sized utility companies in four geographic regions. Companies in the large utility segment serve 500,000 or more residential customers.
The 2012 Electric Utility Residential Customer Satisfaction StudySM is based on responses from more than 100,000 online interviews conducted from July 2011 through May 2012 by J.D. Power and Associates. The Study results were released on July 11.

Nationally among electric utility companies, residential customer satisfaction averaged 625 points (on a 1,000-point scale), a slight decrease from 628 in 2011. Alliant Energy’s score from the Study was 646, considerably higher than the national average and even higher than the 617 average among other large Midwest utilities.

I am an alliant employee. And I want to clear things up…

We wash our hands.
We do not have bidays.
Yes our management sucks.

I just find it funny the article says customer satisfiction is at an ALL TIME HIGH, but let me tell you employee satisfaction is an ALL TIME LOW! And their are employee surveys to prove it.

All this rate hikes just goes to upper mgmt and shareholders. Thats it…i would boycot it if I could, but I would get fired if I showed up.

SOLIDARITY FOREVER!

Interesting to hear about the rate hike from an employee view. Why is employee satisfaction at such a low? I always thought you guys made good money. My neighbor works there and lives like a king. He’s a union guy to. I figured thats why my bill keeps going up and I can’t do sh!t about it!

Just got my Alliant rip off bill. It wont be long before it will be to expenesive to cool or heat the house. My wifes friend says Alliant workers get all kinds of free meals. She would know becuase of where she works. Tired of paying for all of this. THis compnay sucks!!

So did you bother to protest the rate hike or do you just like to whine about it?

How do you protest a rate hike??? Do you think Alliant cares what i think. There big wigs are laughing all the way to the bank. IF you know it all then tell us how to protest the hike.

Don’t like your Power Bill: Shut off your gas and electricity service.

Then don’t use the electricity to run your air conditioner. My rates are much higher than your Alliant rates so I really don’t feel bad for you.

I doubt your rates are higher then what Alliants are. They are some of the highest in the state. Get your facts straigt.

Get yours straight: Nowhere it it stated where the poster was from. So even if Alliant’s rates are the highest in Iowa, it doesn’t apply to those in other states.

Secondly: YOU state that “They are some of the highest in the state.” which indicates that there indeed some are higher.

I do have my facts straight you moron. Both Mid-Am and IPL have to publish their rates so I know exactly what they are. My REC rates were higher to start with and they are going up 7% more at the end of July.

@Jason… you must be one of the overpaid union guys trying to justify earining your wages. A few months back I was in a local cell phone retailer and watched a Alliant guy with his Alliant shirt on stand there and complain about his daughter’s cell phone bill. It was over a 1/2 hour. I remember thinking how great it was that I am paying my Alliant bill so he can get paid to take care of personal business on my dime!!!!!!

@BT Wrong again!. I’m not one of those union guys. Never been in one never will. You seem to think that Alliant is here to provide you with electricity/gas at the price YOU want. Alliant is a private industry which has its goal to make money.

@Jason…I’m not asking sh!thole Alliant to supply me at the price I want to pay. I’m just saying that Alliant doesn’t have to adjust their price to the supply and demand of the market. You obviously have some interest in Alliant to defend their pricing scams.

And once again you are wrong. Unless the managers who run my 401K has invested in Alliant.

Can you name any private company that doesn’t pass its increased cost of production on to the consumer.

My total investment with Alliant is that they supply my with a service I would rather not supply myself. Ten years ago, I sold my car, stored all mt furniture, and moved out of my apartment. I lived for 2 years without electricity and gas. You should try it, you might find that the service Alliant supplies is worth the price.

They had a public meeting about the rate hike the other night and only ONE person showed up to complain. Of course they aren’t going to listen when only one customer bothers to speak up! I know that one can’t run a business without raising prices, giving raises, and replacing infrastructure.

It’s pretty funny how some of the same people calling Obama a socialist and heralding free markets are the same people bitching about a private company deciding what to charge their customers. Maybe liberalism isn’t your biggest problem, perhaps it’s narcisism.

You don’t make sense. It’s not narcissism (note correct spelling), it’s a MONOPOLY!!!

Hey Charger. It ain’t no monopoly. If you don’t like Alliant move your 10-kids and 3-wives to MidAm land. Buffet know his sh!t and can run a company. Or move to Forrest City…Or to Rockwell…all you have to do is move.

Bring on the burning of TRASH MC!!! Put in in the NOrth end! Burn TRASH! Burn TRASH! End the MONOPOLY that is Alliant! Burn TRASH!!!!!! Burn TIRES!! Burn COW CRAP!!!

Hey Matt! It is time to update your stock photo for Alliant articles. How bout

An alliant exec taking a big dump, stinking up the bathroom, checking out their dump, and seeing $$$ instead of poo, smiling, and then flushing the $$ down the toilet.

I think that captures alliant at its best. Better than the door.

HAHAAHHAHA….Must have been the expensive business lunch paid on your dime!

I bet they have diamond encrusted bidets for alliant staff.

I hear Alliant employees don’t even wash their hands. So somehow Matt would need to merge that in to his photo.

whats this got to do with anything? who cares if they are dirty. I want my rates to stop raising.

I’m sure this won’t be the last article praising Alliant’s great service. They are trying to take attention off of the current natural gas rate case. There hoping the customers forget about that and they can slip the rate increase through.

Of course the rate will go through. Only one of you whiners showed up at the meeting the other night. Quitcher bitching if you’re not going to stand up and protest the rate increase.

Just cuz I wasn’t at the meeting doesn’t mean I can’t protest the rate increase. I don’t have the luxury of not working evenings, as obviously as you do! I’m just saying that Alliant is hoping people forget about the rate increase and they can make it permanent.

Sorry, GF. A bunch of people were on NIT complaining about the increase and it blew me away that 1person showed up at the meeting. I wasn’t one of the complainers on here. I really thought there would have been a ton of people at that meeting to protest the rate increase. Why do people whine on here and then not go and protest?
