Op-ed: Values: What do they mean? (by Peter Children)

Values: What do they mean?  First you must define the word itself.  The dictionary tells us it means a “fair return” when considering monetary matters. “Something as principle or matters when considering something human rather than material.”  The word has broad meaning in life, but in the final version as it pertains to each of us, you either have the necessary values to know what is right, or you are mentally corrupt

Of late I have written about drugs on the NIACCC campus; and when I did all hell broke lose. People from every ilk came out of the closet and from under the rocks to pillage me for some unspeakable act that was to remain forever hidden in plain sight.

There is an old saying that goes like this; “You can’t have your cake and eat it too.”  There are discernible  crimes being committed in this city that can be tied inextricably to that campus…unequivocally without a shred of doubt.  Once and forever lets put this matter where it belongs…in plain sight, in the open. If you are serious about eradicating drugs in this community….stop with the bullshit and get serious.

The school has a greater responsibility to both the students and parents to do a more efficient job on their part than they have in the past to help fight this problem.  It no longer is a campus problem, it’s now a city wide problem, and I will add not in any way entirely brought about NIACC but they certainly were a major contributor at one time. …and without knowing still could be.

Let this then be the last word on this matter; without doubt, not all drugs enter this city from across that campus, but it certainly is worth a closer look than it has gotten up to now.

I’d like to know who benefits from liberal welfare rules and encouraging people to move here for those benefits. Always follow the money. I’m assuming somebody figured the costs to a state and city in the form of the need for an increase in law enforcement, court costs, social services and free health services figured in. Medicaid is a big cost for states. Why would we encourage more burdensome debt to our state? I don’t get it. Who is profiting?

Even where you work will have people that do various types of drugs. Something I do see changing in MC is a growing number of larger inner city kids moving here. You could speculate it is for the drug trade since jobs are few but it would only be a guess. Just look at the latest shootings and gun issues and where these kids are from.

Such as?

Your message seems to be changing each time you post. No one is disputing drugs can be found on the campus. What people object to is the claim that NIACC is somehow fuelling the crime in this city. For that we actually need some proof not hyperbole and conjecture.

Thinker, you want “PROOF”? Peter doesn’t believe in proof. If he posts something it MUST be true. .Peter don’t need no damn proof. He is Peter, bow before him.

Why have things gotten significantly so much worse in the last few years? Someone needs to figure that out. What is going on in our city that has happened in the last few years? The economy tanked but it tanked all over. What recent change is specific to Mason City?

It’s because Iowa has very liberal welfare rules. It is very easy to get rent subsidy’s, heat and electric allowance and Federal Food stamps in Iowa. They also get welfare checks and free child care along with insurance. The city’s actually advertised in Chicago, Detroit and other area’s telling them to move here. It only took a few to tell their buddy’s back home what a deal they have here and what easy marks for the drug trade.

Here we go again Peter-I am just sitting here waiting for the comments to start. You could be correct and maybe it needs looking into, but, I doubt it will happen. To many people are loyal to NIACC and you are fighting city hall big time on this. The have’s will pull out all the stops to stop the investigation.
