WORTH COUNTY – Two people were arrested in Worth county after two deputies were nearly run down by a Mason City driver with an open container of booze.
On December 25, 2019 at approximately 7:40 PM, two Worth County deputies were on a traffic stop at Highway 65 and 450th St. While on this stop the deputies were almost hit by a southbound vehicle.
A traffic stop was conducted on that vehicle on Highway 65 at 430th Street. Upon further investigation, the driver, 63-year-old Michael Stumpe of Mason City, IA was arrested and charged with open container and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger of the vehicle, 62-year-old Tamara Hakes of Hanlontown, Iowa was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) – 1st offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The sheriff’s office says this incident is still being investigated and more charges are possible.
Not exactly sure where you guys get your information but maybe start looking into it before you post bogus stories. Them officers were not “nearly run down”. That was just an excuse to pull them over…and maybe you could add that the driver passed his breathalyzer test…blew a .000 (twice) so he was not intoxicated. This page is nothing but drama. Only reason I came here was because the article was brought to my attention.
So, which charge is not true, open container, drug paraphernalia, or marijuana possession. You don’t have to be intoxicated to have an open container, which is against the law, as you obviously know. Also, why don’t you use your name, Michael, Tamara??
Lol well obviously something happened to draw their attention to go after this vehicle and driver, While already conducting a traffic stop. Very unusual to take the time to go after another vehicle while already busy. Arrested on 3 illegal charges with passenger also charged and this bright one complaining the cops weren’t “almost run down”
And driver blew a zero. So the driver wasn’t drunk but high, oh good, that makes it all better. We’ll just wipe your charges clean and you keep going about your illegal activities!!!??? Dumbasses. Drugs fry your brain
