MANSON — Up to 100,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was discharged into a Northern Iowa creek Monday night.
Leaks from a pump caused a wastewater discharge into East Cedar Creek in the northwest Iowa town of Manson Monday night, February 27.
Seals on the pump failed causing the pumping station to flood and overflow. DNR staff confirmed the flow ended about 11 a.m. Tuesday after the city repaired the pump. An estimated 100,000 gallons of untreated wastewater flowed into the creek.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommended keeping children and pets away from the creek for the next 24 to 48 hours. They say they will consider appropriate enforcement action as a result of the incident.
Where’s these environmentalist who are concerned about the waterways,of Iowa. They must be hiding now that the truth is out that iowa towns are dumping human excrement into the waters. Guess it isn’t always a farmer’s fault.

Pollution is bad no matter who is at fault and it is well documented thru dnr records that municipalities have been granted temporary permits to dump human sewage in waters of iowa numerous times. And a vast majority of farmers opperate within the laws set forth by the state so your point is easily defeated in any dbate that pollution from human waste from cities shouls not be tolerated versus any pollution from the ag sector. It’s time these discharges from cities be considered a violation

The article never said where the source of the “wastewater” came from, Iowa ranked #1 in the U.S./Corporation place to live, ha ha what living around 1.) Brain dead zombies, 2.) The take I get from reading the article, is that the leak came from the city sewage system. South of Manson there are 3 lagoons that the city uses for sewage retention. Cedar creek in that area is more or less a ditch that carries field tile run off, and cleaned water from the city sewage system. There’s never been much fishing going on in that area of cedar creek.
Just leave and go very far away.
