Ken Kline appointed as Iowa’s Deputy Commissioner of Elections

Ken Kline

DES MOINES – Secretary of State Paul Pate announces the hiring of Ken Kline to serve as Iowa’s Deputy Commissioner of Elections. Kline has served as auditor for Cerro Gordo County for more than 25 years. He is a past president of the Iowa State Association of County Auditors, creator of the national award-winning Precinct Atlas electronic poll book program, and served for many years as a legislative liaison for county auditors.

“I am very pleased Ken will be joining our team as we head into the 2018 election season,” Secretary Pate said. “Ken’s experience, ingenuity and dedication will be a welcome addition to the staff. He has served the people of Iowa very capably for more than a quarter of a century and is well regarded by election officials across the state and country.”

“It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve the voters of Iowa, to join the excellent staff in Secretary Pate’s office, and to work with all 99 county auditors in implementing clean, fair elections across the state,” Kline said.

Kline will begin his new role in the Iowa Secretary of State’s Office on January 22. He replaces Carol Olson, who will become state director for U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley.

Better watch out here, Urdahl wants the job.

I heard Bookmeyer was interested. What a nasty choice—Bookmeyer or Urdahl.

city employees bailing out, can see why with the mayor and council we had but why are all the county employees bailing out?? is it the new supervisors?? must be something

Ken is an elected official at the County level, not a City employee.

lets hire someone from not from mason city, we did it with a number of police chiefs that didn’t work out, being the current that is looking for another job already and the fire chief that didn’t work out, lets waste another 25,000 to 35,000 dollars for a search. whats wrong with some of the current employees that know the town, the departments, the other employees, what can a outsider bring other then disruption??

This is an elected position, not a hired position….

another one lost cause the supers and council don’t recognize what they have, fire captain good enough to be acting chief but not the real chief and now the auditor. when they gunna wake up and promote what they have.

Ken wasn’t hired by the County, he was elected by the Citizens of the County. He doesn’t work for the Supervisors. He works for the citizens of Cerro Gordo County.
