MASON CITY – NIT has learned that a list was created before tonight’s city council meeting which allows certain people special treatment.

As Tuesday’s heated city council meeting dealing with the controversial Prestage slaughterhouse got underway at 7 PM, the west door to the Mason City Room was locked. Anyone who wanted to gain entry was told to wait in an “overflow area” in the library commons. This was done to control the number of people in the Mason City Room, which has a capacity of 190, the city’s fire marshall said. Only when people left the meeting would others be allowed to enter the room.

However, Chamber of Commerce Director Robin Anderson was witnessed walking from the parking lot up to the locked west doors and she was immediately let inside – even as the “overflow area” had several dozen people waiting.

A police officer at the door approached and opened the door and was asked if the door was to remain locked. He told NIT that it was to remain locked. When asked why Robin Anderson had gained entry, he said she was on a “pre-approved list from the city” that get to enter, no questions asked.

There was no immediate word on how the list was created or who else is on the list.  Anderson, speaking for the entire Chamber of Commerce, has strongly backed the Prestage slaughter plant.

It should not be legal for an elected official to give special access to a special interest group. This is why the public have such a distain for politics.

Who in hell is Robin Anderson, is she one of bookies girl friends?

This is why Bookie and his band have no respect from the people of Mason City. He tried to stack the deck with people he new would side with him. Robin Anderson represents a special interest group and should be given no special treatment. And if she really support this issue she should have waited along with everyone else not be given special access. She and her group offered no value at all to this discussion.

Its called the The Deal.. just like Trump and Company. Its the way that business does business.

Mason cities own HITLERY CLINTON !

Bullshit. Schemes and scams as usual. Who gives a hoot about her. Man her voice…oooWie!

That seems appropriate. I would assume any large business organizations of that type would be on the list.

What makes her opinion any better than any other taxpaying citizen. The council is a city function and should never be about special interest.

I would also expect that the school board president and Anita Micich would have been on that list as well as the director of the Economic Development board. If you can’t understand that, you don’t understand how cities work.

….it’s not what you know but WHO you know….
