MASON CITY – Councilman John Lee announced today he wants to be re-elected to the Mason City council.

“It has been four amazing years serving the city I love,” Lee said via social media. “I have enjoyed working for its citizens and trying to let the rest of the state or country in on our secret we have known here for years, Mason City is truly a treasure. So with pride and humility, I will be asking the citizens of Mason City to once again put their faith in me to represent them and the city this November by voting for me.”

With the behavior Lee displayed at the near end August 2017 council meeting where he had to be hand held through every decision, I don’t think he is fit for another term. When progress was going to be made by casting a yes vote, he voted no constantly because it seemed as though he didn’t take the time to read and understand as the rest of the councilmen / council women had done on the subject matter. It’s not the citizen’s fault that he was absent at the last meeting. No to another term!

did you all know that his father is “Jay Lee” the retired mcpd officer.??

What’s your point? Jay is a great guy!

I didn’t know that, and wouldn’t have voted for him if I had.

Has he ever talked?

He didn’t go to the North Side meeting did he? Don’t start caring now that you lost your position.

He has never attended any of the North End meetings. He obviously doesn’t care about the people who live here. Very typical of this administration.

John I voted for you the first time and the things you said to me just didn’t happen, you fell right into the arms of the biggest Drunk Mason City has for a mayor. What a disgrace. Talk your talk and walk your walk, maybe I will change my mind.

He is like all politicians, promise them everything they want, get elected and then don’t do it. In other words, they delibertly lie to the voters.

John need to get off the east side of town and drive through the rest of the town. All he sees is the downtown where we spent millions of dollars so the imports could take it over at night with their drug deasl and fights.

Mason City is a good place to live. It could be better, if there weren’t any drug dealer imports here. That’s the biggest problem with this town.

@anonymous-Drug imports and thieves.

While your comment is quite true…. drugs are the single biggest social problem of our time. Relatives who live in Des Moines, Fort Dodge and Rochester have the same criticism of their cities. The big picture is absolutely frightening and will be the demise of our culture.

I wonder in what way he thinks Mason City is a treasure.

you can bet I won’t!!!!!!!!
