Poll: Iowa Senate race is “snout to snout”

braley-ernstDES MOINES – The Iowa U.S. Senate race is going down to the wire, with Republican State Sen. Joni Ernst at 48 percent among likely voters and U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley, the Democrat, at 46 percent, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. Four percent remain undecided.

This compares to results of an October 15 survey by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Sen. Ernst at 47 percent and Rep. Braley at 45 percent.

Today’s results show independent voters giving Ernst 47 percent to Braley’s 41 percent. Republicans back Ernst 91 – 6 percent. Democrats go to Braley 93 – 4 percent.

In the reverse gender gap that marks this race, women back the Democratic man 53 – 40 percent, while men back the Republican woman 55 – 38 percent.

Braley leads 58 – 37 percent among those who already have voted.

With 12 days until Election Day, 93 percent of Iowa likely voters who name a Senate candidate say their mind is made up, while 7 percent say they might change their mind.

“The race to succeed U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin in Iowa could be headed for a photo finish, with State Sen. Joni Ernst on the plus side of a too-close-to-call matchup with U.S. Rep. Bruce Braley,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll.

“Throughout the campaign, Sen. Ernst has had an edge on likability. If she makes it across the finish line first that may be the key. Her campaign theme that she is the ‘farm girl next door’ who made good has taken her from unknown state legislator to a serious shot at the United States Senate.”

“Rep. Braley has been selling his Washington experience. We’ll see on November 4 whether that experience is such a valuable commodity with voters,” Brown added.

By a 48 – 42 percent margin, Iowa likely voters have a favorable opinion of Ernst. Braley gets a split 43 – 43 percent likability score.

From October 15 – 21, Quinnipiac University surveyed 964 likely voters with a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.

Just remember, a vote for Braley is a vote for Obama and Harry Reid. Do you really want to vote for the two people who are taking the country into ruin?

Brailey was the first one to comment on how bad the government shut down was. He stated, “There is no towel service at the House gym.” He really had to suffer, that is the kind of guy Brailey is.

Beeter Bailey is a lawyer enough said !!

Just sent Braley a contribution today. Not big, but I’m hoping a large number of voters will send him money. All the smaller donations really add up.

And no, I’m not on Braley’s campaign staff. I just believe in him.

I’m so impressed with First Lady. Keep sending her out there!

You are right, she is out there.

Vote Ernst! Say no to liberal lawyers like Obama and Bailey!
Bailey … Lol

FDR right man for the job at he time. However, without Winsypn Chirchill we in America would all be speaking German !!

The Clinton’s…… Don’t even have to say anything…. Hahaha
Bill would have been fun to party with but that’s about it. Grow up you bra burning 60’s dead beats.

JFK is spinning in his grave. Research this you liberals. JFK was fiscally conservative and hawkish about protecting America. Obama’s Democratic Party is nothing like JFK

I liked JFK’s policies, thats why I said after kennedy.

Warren Buffet playing you idiots like fools just like JP Morgan did. He has to appease the federal government and then act in his own best interest . Hello Buger King now that’s a whopper !!!!

In order to explain it further you would have to understand the difference between static vs. dynamic economic principles. Again Vote Ernst if you love life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Conservatives and Libertarians unite we can agree on limiting the federal government we can work on the rest later !!

To keep it short… Liberals are stupid

Yeah, FDR, JFK, the Clintons (one a Rhodes Scholar), Warren Buffet, Obama, etc., are all really stupid, aren’t they? You wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans next to any of them!

Liberals are not stupid, they know exactly what they are doing and how bad they are destroying our country. Our fore fathers were considered terrorists because of them revolting but liberals are worse than terrorists because they are tearing down the moral, legal and spiritual fabric of our country to fit their warped sense of justice.

Our forefather “terrorists” created a great new democracy that Republicans are trying very hard to screw up.

If Republicans had their way, everyone below the poverty line (blacks AND whites) would be slaves. Republicans look at people working for minimum wage and think “Look at that poor loser. He/she brought that all on themselves. They don’t deserve any better, even though they’ve had some very tough luck and bad breaks (medical problems, etc.). Poor fools.”

Are you proud of this?

You better check your history book again cause you are way off. Plus we are in the shape we are in right now, on the verge of collapse, because of the policies of the democratic party which started 100 years ago but started picking up speed after Kennedy.

Ya, sure. We’re on the verge of collapse. I’ve made more money on my investments since Obama has been in office than I ever made when we were stuck with George W. Same thing when Clinton was in office. Do you honestly LIKE it when Republicans destroy our economy? You’re all such masochists!

The economy has been in danger for decades but the downfall started with frank and dodd. You are making money off of inflated stocks, it is a temporary fix that doesn’t solve the problem but makes it look like it is solved. The economy could collapse at anytime and then I will ask you what you think.

You go ahead and ask me later. In the meantime, I’ll keep enjoying the way my investments are growing.

You do that but just in case I would start buying extra food and water, even guns and ammo too just in case.

Oh no, not another doomsday prepper!

I am not a doomsday prepper, I am a realist. I see what is happening and I am preparing for my family to survive if and when it happens. If you are making fun of me because I want my family to be ok thats your choice but I feel sorry for you when it happens.

Vote Ernst !!

No thanks! Iowans need more than minimum wage to survive.

Mrs.S. that is BULL. You are falling for the lies. How many people really work minimum wage. A few that flip hamburgers because they can’t get jobs anywhere else. They are paid what they are worth. As they become worth more they will be paid more.

Every time I hired someone to help me in a job, I never thought to pay them less than $10 an hour, and I’m below the poverty line myself. So if a multi national corporation cannot pay their workers $10 an hour…well I’ll just say I don’t believe they can’t…it’s that they WON’T.

Under the table I am sure. Paying INTO the system is for suckered right?

Personally I think income tax is a flawed system. Tax should be acquired per usage. Sales, property, fuel, vehicle registration etc.

Personally, I know you broke the law and couldn’t care less. It’s your good old double standard. If it’s at your expense, you’re against it. If it’s to your benefit you’re all for it (and you will probably try to claim credit for the idea).
