Iowa principal found at Hawkeye game near “pile of vomit”

IOWA CITY – An educator of children seems to have drank way, way too much this weekend at a college football game.

Lee David Griebel, age 44 of Adel, Iowa, was arrested for public intoxication at Kinnick Stadium at 3:26 PM Saturday as the Iowa Hawkeyes were inching by Ball State on the field. University police said that Griebel was sitting near a garbage can with vomit on his shorts and a pile of vomit near him and he admitted drinking beer. Griebel had slurred speech and had unsteady balance and blew .222 on an alcohol breath test.

Griebel is listed as a principal at Adel DeSoto School District, west of the Des Moines metro area. He has reportedly been placed on leave from his job.

Iowa City recently slipped in the rankings for the nation’s top party schools from #1 to #2 behind Syracuse, New York.
