CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman’s alleged late night tirade sent cops scrambling to get the scene under control.
A late-night disturbance in the 500 block of Hulin Street drew a heavy police response on March 11, 2026, after neighbors reported a chaotic scene unfolding inside an apartment complex. At approximately 10:24 PM, the Charles City Police Department arrived to find a woman frantically screaming and repeatedly banging on an apartment door, causing a significant disruption to the quiet neighborhood.
Officers identified the woman as 35-year-old Tia Osterkamp of Charles City. The situation quickly escalated as police attempted to intervene, leading to a confrontation between Osterkamp and the responding officers. Authorities noted that her conduct during the encounter hindered their ability to resolve the matter peacefully, resulting in additional charges beyond the initial disturbance. Osterkamp was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including criminal mischief, trespassing, and interference with official acts.
Following her arrest, Osterkamp (pictured at top) was processed and subsequently released from jail on her own recognizance. While the specific motive for the late-night outburst has not been released, the legal process is already underway. Osterkamp is currently scheduled to return to court for a pretrial conference hearing on May 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, where the details of the incident on Hulin Street will be further addressed.
